About Nicole Norris Design Studio
Nicole Norris, ASID
(American Society of Interior Designers)
NCIDQ certificate #11692
(National Council for Interior Design Qualification)
Upon graduation from Florida State University, Nicole chose to go into her field of study of Interior Design with the hope of one day owning her own design firm. She married an Air Force Officer and F-15 pilot whom she diligently followed around the country and was able to make a career for herself while doing so.
A transfer of her husband to California meant a new position for Nicole. She found employment in the wholesale end of the business at the San Diego Design Center. She worked as an Assistant Showroom Manager for two years and learned the other end of the design trade.
The next move two years later to Las Vegas, Nevada was a turning point for Nicole. She was able to complete the certification process for interior designers by passing the six-part NCIDQ exam. In Las Vegas, Nicole started a home-based design business and also taught for a local trade school that specialized in interior design training. After two years at the Interior Design Institute, Nicole was promoted to Director of Education and spearheaded the curriculum development from a one-year certificate program to a two-year associate degree program.
In 1996, Nicole and her husband were moved to South Carolina, where Nicole made the decision to open her own business with a full-service design studio with a retail showroom.
In 2004, her husband retired from active duty in the Air Force and the family decided to make Sumter their permanent home.
In 2005, Nicole purchased and remodeled a building in which to house her design business and retail showroom. She has grown the business from a single-woman designer to a six-person design team. She has won two ASID design awards and has been published in South Carolina Home and Garden magazine multiple times.
